Women Victorious at UCSB Triathlon; Team Places 2nd
The women of the UC San Diego Triathlon Team came up with another huge win at UC Santa Barbara's Kendra Chiota Payne Memorial Triathlon.  Their strong performance over the rest of the women's field propelled the combined UCSD team into 2nd place overall at the race.  Standing atop the podium, UCSD's Amanda Felder and Darlene Hunt placed 1st and 2nd, respectively, with team captain Blair Ryan rounding out UCSD's women's scoring positions in 6th place.

In the men's race, Frank Uyeda was the best ranked Triton in 9th place, followed by Dan Anderson, who was relegated to 10th after a two minute time penalty.  Rounding out UCSD's top three men was Marc Schommer, whose 13th place finish put the men in 5th.

The Kendra Chiota Payne Memorial Triathlon began with a chilly 500 meter swim from the beach adjacent to UC Santa Barbara's campus and continued into 16 mile bike course which forced participates to navigate some narrow bike paths and rolling hills.  The race concluded with a very fast and scenic 5K run along the bluffs overlooking the ocean.  With this beautiful course and stiff collegiate competition, the UCSD Tritons will certainly be back next year in search of an overall team victory!
