| Triathlon at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo |

Last weekend 7 Triton Triathletes raced up in Arroyo Grande for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s March Triathlon. The WCCTC Championship was held at Lake Lopez on Saturday morning. The race went off at 9:00am with the collegiate men’s wave, followed by the collegiate women at 9:05. The race was Olympic distance; 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run. On the men’s side the Triton racers were Adam Strobl (22nd), Eric Martin (24th), Daniel Anderson (39th), Tim Machado (74th) and Andrew Radin (90th) racing a field of 120 men. All three women; Darlene Hunt (10th), Tammy Wildgoose (25th) and Blair Ryan (27th) were racing their first Olympic Distance Triathlon against the field of 74 women. Adam Strobl came away with a personal best at the Olympic distance with his time of 2:19:48, and Darlene Hunt was the first woman out of the water and had the 8th fastest swim overall with her swim split of 21:09. The team was sixth overall with a team time of 15:10:32 (using the top three men’s and women’s times.) Other scoring teams were Berkeley, Cal Poly, UCSB, Stanford, Davis, USC, and UCSC.
The Tritons will be hosting the UCSD Tritonman Triathlon on April 7th. A few team members will be racing and others will be working to help the event run smoothly. After Tritonman the team will be racing at the UCSB Kendra Chiota Payne Memorial Triathlon in Santa Barbara on April 15th. |
